Back-stade the Katyn crime focuses on an act that has never been judged by any tribunal. On 5 March 1940 the highest authorities of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, led by Joseph Stalin, gave an order to execute by firing squad 21.857 Polish officers, policemen and border guard officers, prisoners of war taken captive during the Soviet aggression against Poland on 17 September 1939. The killings took place in Katyn, Kharkiv, and Tver in April and May 1940.
            The author presents the history of this massacre, in which her father, Wincenty Wołk, a Polish Army artillery lieutenant, and this five nearest cousins, perished.         She relentlessly exposes the false version of the crime and the unworthy manner in which the bodies were exhumed, affronting the dignity of the murdered.
            This book exposes a crime committed against the defenseless Polish nation and concealed from the world for fifty years, until it was uncovered in 1943. The Allied governments, even though avare of the circumstances and the perpetrators from the very beginning, failed to condemn this crime in the international arena.
